While the story of Kozuba & Sons begins in Jablonka, Poland, the story of this light whiskey begins in St. Petersburg, FL and our first official purchase as Two Souls Spirits. We visited Kozuba & Sons in March of 2022 determined to buy a barrel of their highly-acclaimed high-wheat rye whiskey, but couldn’t resist coming away with what, in our humble opinion, is one of the tastiest whiskeys we have ever released. Packed with a nearly flawless balance of sweet and spicy flavors, this uncut and unfiltered Polish-style whiskey (distilled from 100% malted rye) will make you wonder why you haven’t been drinking light whiskey all along. The story of Kozuba & Sons Distillery begins in Joblonka, Poland in 2005, where the Kozuba family opened the first family-owned micro-distillery since WWII. While the Kozuba cordials and whiskeys quickly became popular in the surrounding towns and villages, the spirits industry in Poland was not set up to support a growing craft distillery. Thus, after weighing their options, the family decided to make the journey to the US, landing in St. Petersburg, FL.
Kozuba & Sons was one of the first official buying trips we made after establishing Two Souls Spirits. While their highly acclaimed 7-year rye whiskey was a true standout during our visit, we fell in love with another rye-based spirit that showcased their Polish heritage - their 100% malted rye light whiskey. Aged in a combination of used rye and bourbon barrels, this whiskey exemplifies the quality and innovation that Kozuba & Songs brings to US craft spirits.
