Distilled in KY from the iconic 95/5 rye mashbill that we all know and love. |
|
A young rye whiskey absconded with a sweet, playful rum barrel, only to be lured away 3-years later by a dark and mysterious bourbon barrel with a history of being emotionally unavailable. The classic love triangle. |
|
Said rye invites both barrels on a date to the same place at the same time. Deliciousness ensues. Sweet rummy goodness backed by ample spice and just enough oak and leather to heat up the three-way conversation. |
The whiskey in this bottle wasn't orphaned or lost, but it was found and perfected by Yahara Bay Distillers and Two Souls Spirits. In 2019, Yahara Bay acquired a straight rye whiskey featuring the iconic 95/5 (rye/malted barley) mash bill. After resting for a year, Yahara Bay decided to finish the rye in a used rum barrel to add sweetness and complexity to the spice-forward profile. We came across this barrel in 2022 when it had been resting in the rum barrel for over 3 years and purchased it without hesitation. Wanting to put our own stamp on things, we then transferred the rum finished rye to a premium used bourbon barrel (in collaboration with 2Bros 1Bottle) for an additional 13 months. The end result is a sweet, spicy, and brooding spirit that masterfully showcases all components of its' triple cask DNA.
Tasting Notes: Rich waves of rum, butterscotch, warm vanilla and baking spices, stewed apples, and a touch of old oak and leather.
