We love us some Wisconsin whiskey, and this Wollersheim rye is no exception. However, we also can't resist adding our own twist when appropriate. This sweet and spicy vanilla toasted whiskey spent nearly a year resting in a used maple bourbon barrel, adding layers of rich maple syrup and vanilla to a decidedly rye-forward profile. Toss in aromas of cinnamon candies and some light clove and you have the perfect pour for the cool fall weather.

Situated on the grounds of Wollersheim Winery, a National Historic Site in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, Wollersheim Distillery has been producing premium craft spirits since 2009. While distillation was initially limited to grape brandy, the distillery has expanded production in recent years to include award-winning rye, bourbon, apple brandy, gin, and absinthe. Under the leadership of Master Distiller Tom Lenerz, Wollersheim Distillery has been quietly releasing some of the best craft bourbon and rye on the market.
We initially contacted Wollersheim Distillery in late 2021, shortly after establishing Two Souls Spirits. With family in the Madison area, we had been able to sample their products numerous times since their inception and came away more impressed with each visit. In particular, their rye whiskey began to stand out as one of the best craft ryes in the US. However, with little if any distribution outside Wisconsin, many whiskey enthusiasts were unable to get their hands on anything from this up-and-coming producer. That’s something we can help with. We couldn’t be happier to help give Wollersheim Distillery the national spotlight that it clearly deserves.
